Marvin Henderson

Marvin Henderson is a recent graduate of Texas State University, where he studied Theatre Directing and Opera Theatre. Marvin is a dedicated performer and director in all aspects of theatre bringing with him a firm belief that all forms of theatre are based on human life, as natural and authentic as breathing. This idea is ever-present in his current work as an assistant director under Dr. Samuel Mungo – Opera Director at Peabody Conservatory. Additionally, Marvin has also directed Someplace Warm, by Peter Macklin. As a performer, Marvin is very familiar with the opera stage having recently made his Houston Grand Opera debut in Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers. As well, he starred as “Basilio” in Le Nozze Di Figaro, “Ralph Rackstraw” in HMS Pinafore, and was a world-premiere soloist in Lady Bird—First Lady of The Land, by Henry Mollicone and Sheldon Harnick. Marvin believes in a strong union between the actor and character, aiming to reinforce the humanity in every piece with which he interacts. In the future, Marvin hopes to revitalize theatrical performance with a strong focus on honesty by finding works across the globe with which both he and the audience connect.
