Luke Cunningham was born in Grand Rapids, MI on April 3rd, 2002. He attends Coopersville High School in western Michigan.
Throughout his childhood Luke learned to play guitar and sing along to early rockers like The Beatles and Del Shannon who grew up in Coopersville as Charles Westover.
Luke first performed on stage at an open mic night at the Coopersville Farm Museum when he was nine years old. He performed Del Shannon’s #1 hit from 1961 “Runaway”. LeeAnn Creager the museums curator came to the mic afterwards and told everyone that it just happened to be the 50th anniversary of the number 1 hit. Mrs. Creager then asked Luke to perform at the Coopersville Del Shannon Days and Car Show. For several years Luke performed at that venue and even performed on stage with country star Johnny Carver.
In more recent years Luke has been studying at The Piano Cottage in East Grand Rapids. He joined several other Piano Cottage students and formed a band, Fire Alarm, of which he was the lead singer and guitar and keyboard player. Fire Alarm went on to win Grand Rapids Got Talent.
Luke has performed in the Grand Rapids area at Wealthy Street Theater, Meijer Gardens, DeVos Performance hall and a variety of other venues. Most recently Luke has taken his inspiration from Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and has submitted his audition video playing their song “God Only Knows”.
Luke plans on pursuing a career in music writing and production and hopes to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston.
