Celebration of Music - Talent Search

My name is Jillian Orth. I was born in Tualatin, Oregon. I started dancing when I was 5 years old, hip hop, jazz, lyrical and acrobatics. I started singing in my school choir In the 3rd grade. l also started playing basketball in the 3rd grade. During my 4th grade year I took my first voice class. My 5th and 6th grade years I danced in 3 performance groups through my dance academy.

At the end of my 6th grade year my Dad’s job moved us to Florida. It was a really hard move for me, but it turned out pretty well. When we moved to Florida, we couldn't find a dance academy that worked for me right away. I finally found a small academy to dance at, not what I was used to, but it kept me dancing. Unfortunately, I broke both the bones in my left arm playing basketball, and had to give up dance for a while. During that time my friend asked if I wanted to sing a duet with her for our school talent show, and took me to meet her voice coach. That was when I realized I’d rather sing than do most anything else.

I started taking voice lessons from Chrys Rowe at Music Rowe studios between my 7th and 8th grade years. Singing with Chrys has given me a lot of opportunities to perform around the Jacksonville area. I have performed at Mudville multiple times as well as The Landing. l have performed the National Anthem at multiple Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp games as well as the Jacksonville lcemen games. I also was lucky enough to travel to Kentucky and sing the National Anthem at a Florence Freedom professional baseball game.

This year I'm a freshman in high school. I'm a cheerleader for my schools' football and basketball teams. I also have been honored to sing the National Anthem before our home games.
