Hi, I’m Jayden Austin. I’m 13 years old. I am from Yucaipa, California and I’m currently going to Parkview Middle School. My elective at school is drama. I am taking voice lessons and piano lessons, and hopefully guitar soon. In my free time I like to play the guitar and piano. Sometimes I try to learn the electric guitar. When I am with my friends we try to write songs. I have written three full completed songs. On two of the songs I wrote I had help with the lyrics from my friend Imane Ocampo. I love playing musical instruments and singing. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. When I was five, my dad recorded us singing a duet together with an acoustic guitar which is really cool to have. I’ve only recently began playing piano and guitar. I really enjoy being able to play the piano and providing my own music to sing along with. My dad plays guitar and piano and also sings, that has been a big influence on me. He has always wanted me to play guitar but I never enjoyed it until recently so he is very happy that I can play guitar and piano and I am starting to write my own music. My dad listens to a lot of music from the 60’s and that influences what I play, I know more 60’s music than the new music that is out right now. I think the musical influences I have give me an interesting spin on the music I write. I like focusing on the vocal melody. I feel very fortunate because I have access to all these instruments at my home. I think it would be amazing if I could sing and play music for a living. I hope to make a career out of this.
