Growing up, I always knew what a passion I had for dance, but it became clear that financially I would not be able to pursue this passion since my parents could not support me. I decided not to let this get my hopes up and began to teach myself how to dance off of YouTube at age 12, practicing for hours on end in my little basement living room. After months of relentless practice I saved up every penny I had, choreographed myself a dance, and entered myself Into a regional dance competition. I placed In the top three with my first solo ever and never slowed down after; I was then picked up as an apprentice for a professional dance company, dancing and choreographing annually for the Kansas City Fringe Festival, all while competing all over the nation. My choreography was featured in the KC Metropolis Magazine, as well as showcased at National Dance Week Kansas City, all while being competed in cities from Houston, TX, to Omaha, NE. Most recently, I was promoted to full-time company member and awarded the Arts Inspire Network Scholarship for the second year in a row, where I was able to attend the Edge Performing Arts dance intensive in Los Angeles, CA. Being apart of this show is such a huge dream of mine and through it I hope to inspire young children to go after their dreams, knowing that nothing can stop them, not even financial barriers.
