Jacee Beth Engels
Jacee Beth Engels, a senior studying Vocal Performance at North Dakota State University, has fostered a love for singing and the arts since the age of four. Before attending college, Jacee’s career started in New Rockford, North Dakota, as a veteran actress with the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts. Jacee discovered her love of classical singing through participating in the NDSU Concert Choir. While singing Handel’s Messiah with her colleagues, her first time performing with a live orchestra, she knew that this was the career for her. Since then, Jacee has performed in several operas, including Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges. Her craft has taken her to study in Valencia, Spain, with faculty from the Boston Conservatory and Quebec, Canada, to study with renowned singers José van Dam and Sophie Koch. When not studying, Jacee enjoys reading, writing, watching films, exercising, riding her horses, dancing, traveling, singing at church, and spending time with friends and family (especially her beloved nephew and niece!). She hopes that her performance might inspire just one person to watch an opera! Most importantly, Jacee is a firm believer in the lasting power of the arts—not only as a form of education and enjoyment—but also as an antidote to division and healer of the soul.
