Celebration of Music - Talent Search

Evy’s first performance was in church when, at the age of two, she kept singing the chorus of ͞Blessed Be the Name͟ even after the hymn had ended, and was followed by applause from the white-haired ladies in the neighboring pews. Her whole life, Evy has loved singing and her favorite style has always been opera. While becoming an opera singer may not be a typical aspiration for a girl growing up on a cattle ranch in northwestern South Dakota, Evy took whatever opportunities came her way. As a teenager, she participated in Missoula Children’s Theater, attended their performing arts camp, and was very active in her high school music and drama programs. For the past four years, Evy has been involved in the Miss South Dakota Pageant. She has been awarded Rookie of the Year, Most Talented Non-Finalist, Miss Congeniality, the Acts of Kindness and Generosity Scholarship, Preliminary Swimsuit, Preliminary Talent, and placed in the top five two years in a row. As part of her service platform, ͞Hidden Treasure: Valuing the Elderly,͟ Evy regularly sings at nursing homes in her community. Evy graduated magna cum laude from South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in music education and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in opera theater at the University of South Carolina.
