Eric Yun

Eric Yun is an 8th grader from Chippewa Middle School in Okemos, Michigan. He lives with his parents and two dogs and has an older brother is in college.Eric was born in New York City and moved to Indiana when he was almost 3 years old. He began to study the violin when I was four years old and started piano one year later. For several years, Eric used to wait outside during his older brother's violin lessons and it was quite tiresome.

When he found out that he was going to take lessons as well, he was thrilled. He has received awards from several piano competitions and gold medals in both piano and violin at the Indiana State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble contest in 6th grade.Eric also played violin at South Bend Youth Orchestra and their quartet program for 3 years. After his family moved to Michigan two years ago, he qualified for Michigan Middle School All State Orchestra and performed at DeVos Place, Grand Rapids.

His favorite pianists are Mr. Daniel Barenboim and Mr. Evgeny Kissin and his favorite violinistsare Mr. Itzhak Perlman and Mr. Maxim Vengerov. He is currently studying with Prof. Derek Polischuk for piano and Prof. I-Fu Wang for violin. Although learning and practicing the two instruments together took a lot of his time, it has become such an essential part of his life.
