Celebration of Music - Talent Search

Hi, my name is Aubrey Beck. I am 15-years old and just started the 10th grade. I enjoy school. My favorite subject is language arts. My favorite quote is "When you can't find the sunshine, be the sunshine". I try to utilize this quote in all that I do whether or not I am working in the church nursery or on a mission trip.

My favorite thing about dance is that it is a specific way to express myself without having to speak. I can choose a song that matches me and my personality to dance to. I can show people who I am without saying a word.

I have been dancing since elementary school. I began around the 2nd grade. From the 3rd grade to the 6th grade, I attended the Northwest Florida Ballet Academie (a charter school) where I received classical ballet training every school day for at least one hour. During my 6th grade year, I was honored to be a trainee with the Northwest Florida Ballet company. While attending Northwest Florida Ballet Academie, I had the privilege to dance in the Nutcracker for 3 seasons as well as Cinderella. In my 7th grade year, I chose to attend a public middle school. I danced with the school dance team and learned so many new skills I was also a cast member of The Calling, a Christian dance company, that year and enjoyed it immensely. I have been dancing with a dance studio since and have been on their competitive team. It has been a huge growth experience. I have won several scholarships as a competitive dancer, placements, and judge's choice awards. The reason I compete is to improve my skills and motivate myself.

I am a big sister to Morgan who is 10-years old. She is also a contestant with Celebration of Music. We are very close. I prayed for a little sister and when God gave me her, I told my parents that she was my baby because I prayed for her so I was naming her. They allowed me to name her.

I am a beekeeper and have a small business called AuBee's Honey in the Raw. I have been a beekeeper for almost 4 years. My fascination began when my grandpa had a beehive under his home. It was removed by a beekeeper who invited us to see how a bee farm operates and how to harvest honey. I have been featured in our local newspaper as the Ballerina Beekeeper and was recently featured as a "cool kid" in the On the Coast Magazine.

At the age of 13, I went on my first mission trip to Ecuador with my dad. It was also the first time I had traveled outside of the country. I have always written fictional stories. However, this mission trip inspired me to become a journalist.

I have been riding horses for as long as I can remember. I have always loved them and everything about them. I am a western rider. I began vaulting (doing acrobatic tricks on a horse while it moves in a circular pattern) which has become a new passion of mine.

I also enjoy snorkeling, swimming, water skiing, and paddle boarding. I love to read and love to do wood working. I also like to remodel with my dad. I am very involved with my church youth group. I also love photography. I love country music and enjoy going to live shows.

My major goals in life are to obtain my bachelors degree, at minimum, and become an investigative journalist. I would like to investigate crimes I am currently exploring three colleges which are: Auburn University, Florida State University, and Highlands (Birmingham, AL). If you have not heard of Highlands college, it is a special ministry college for Christians.
