Celebration of Music - Talent Search

Thirteen-year old Victoria Whatley fell in love with music while sitting on the knees of her great grandfather who performed at every family gathering and in his local church. It wasn’t long before Victoria was playing guitar and singing on her own. In the third grade she made her public performing debut at the school talent show. She gave a heartwarming performance of Amazing Grace that left all the judges in tears. When her great granddad passed away, she inherited his violin and a new passion was born. The instrument was a struggle for her at first, but persistence and dedication paid off and her music continued to advance. The violin remains a strong connection for her to the man that gave her the gift of music.

At age 8 she began appearing in local theatre productions and performing in showcases and benefit concerts. At age 11 she competed in a high-school voice competition and won 3rd place. That year she also started play violin in public at the pier and at retirement homes and any other venues. She wrote her first song at age 12 and began playing at larger regional festivals.

Victoria is also the Concert Master (first chair) in the local youth orchestra and recently made All-State with the Orchestra Association.

Victoria Whatley is a singer-songwriter, plays the guitar, violin, ukulele and piano. She sings in Spanish and English and enjoys performing a wide range of music genres including opera, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Country, Latin, Musical Theatre and Pop.

In addition to music, Victoria enjoys church, school and art. She paints silk scarves as a hobby. Victoria also loves to travel. Her favorite place is her mother’s native country, Ecuador. She loves the rich culture, food, music, beautiful geography but most of all the people.
