Sadie Kosoff

I'm Sadie Bea Kosoff. I'm 12 years old and I love to perform. I've been taking piano and voice lessons since I was 5. I live in a very small art community - Mt. Gretna, which is also a summer destination. We have a swimming lake, roller rink, ice cream parlor, pizza shop, and an outdoor theater. There are many community activities throughout the year, including an outdoor Art Show in August. When I was 7, I was a Munchkin in Gretna Theatre's production of the Wizard of Oz. Since then, my dream has been to perform. I enjoy acting and singing for people - to make them happy or laugh - it's a great feeling. Recently, I performed the role of Jo in the World Premiere of Gathering Blue at the Gretna Theatre. Gathering Blue is a book in the Giver Series, written by Lois Lowry. She attended the performance! I loved performing in front of her – playing the role of a character she created.

I also play soccer, enjoy swimming, rollerblading, riding bike, making crafts and SLIME (it does drive my parents crazy though). I also enjoy playing the drums. My older sister, Lucy and I also like to write songs, play piano, and sing together. I love animals - I have a cat and a dog.

When I was in 5th grade I became very ill. The doctors didn't know what was wrong with me. I couldn't walk and my speech wasn't right. We suspected lyme disease because we live in the woods (with deer and ticks). Sure enough I had Lyme meningitis. I was in the hospital for 4 days. They were so good to me there. I've fully recovered and I have an appreciation for people who are sick and the doctors and nurses who take care of them.

I'm so thrilled to be participating in the Celebration of Music and can't wait for you to hear me perform.
