Riley Padgett

My name is Riley Padgett. I’m an eleven year old 6th grader at East Grand Rapids Middle School. Singing is my passion! I was born in Chicago and livedthere for 3 years before my family moved to Grand Rapids. My early interest in music started by listening to Bob Seger. In Grand Rapids, I began to sing in my church choir and asked for a solo. That was my first big solo. Singing back then was just a hobby, but I have worked hard to make it a big part of my life. When I was 8 I joined the the Piano Cottage Rocks chorus and had a blast. I decided that I wanted to be a solo act in the Piano Cottage Rocks concert! I then started to take voice lessons with Kathy Gibson, my amazing voice coach. That spring I tried out for the TPCR concert as a solo act. All my hard work and dedication paid off! I made the first TPCR concert I tried out for, singing the song ‘Short People’ by Randy Newman. I continued my private lessons and recitals to get my voice even stronger. I tried out again last year for the TPCR concert and made it singing ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars . I am still taking voice lessons and hope to continue this passion of mine.
