Nate Carovano

When Nate turned 9, he held a rock n’ roll themed birthday party (complete with costume contest -- winner: 9-year old Gene Simmons… google it) at Rockatar, a place nearby that teaches through exploring the student’s own musical taste. He started with the bass guitar, added the drums, and a little keyboard. At age 13, Nate’s voice changed dramatically, and he decided to use it! Now he takes lessons to learn how to harness this newly found bass voice.

In the meantime, his sister, Zoe, taught him how to play the ukulele, and the two of them often have jam sessions -- singing and playing tunes from Twenty-One Pilots, Ed Sheeran, Dodie Clark, Elvis, Arctic Monkeys, etc… it really runs the gamut.

Now, he and Zoe, perform both separately and together at a handful of restaurants in the Tampa area. Last year, he played Don Lockwood, in his school’s production of Singin’ in the Rain. He worked very hard to learn how to tap dance. Now both dancing and musical theater are new-found passions. At school, Nate also participates in the Songwriting Club, the boys’ a cappella group, and the co-ed a cappella group. Nate has found he loves to entertain on stage. He is so thankful to Celebration of Music for this opportunity and really wants to keep going. So, if you liked his music, or just reading this sometimes goofy biography, please vote for him below.

Ever since he was a baby, Nate has enjoyed doing crazy stuff to make his family laugh. Family dinner wouldn’t be complete without him making up a silly/dramatic dance to the music playing – sometimes it involves blankets used as capes or jumps from the furniture.

He and Zoe are constantly singing around the house. When the house is quiet, you know someone isn’t feeling well. Both kids use music as a way to escape when life gets tough.

In school, some of Nate’s favorite lessons have been in realism in performance, choral music, programming robots, and learning not to run with scissors. He grew up playing soccer and lacrosse, but is looking forward to learning volleyball this year. Last spring, he traveled with a group helping to build a library for a community in need and hopes to do so again each year.

To finish with a fast fact: you’ll often see Nate wearing a Fedora. Over the years, he’s amassed quite a collection.
