Meg Strand
Meg Strand is thirteen years old, in 8th grade and loves anything music! (She’s been known to stare longingly at any piano she sees, and to burst into song without a moment’s notice.)
Meg started taking piano lessons when she was in 1st grade and has never taken formal voice lessons, though she loves to sing. In 6th grade, Meg started playing cello, and she enjoys being in her school’s orchestra. Along with playing cello, Meg has performed solo piano pieces in many recitals. She has participated in the Gilmore Keysfest program for two years. Sometimes she composes her own music, and hopes to learn more about songwriting for voice and piano. One of her favorite performances was playing and singing “True Colors” solo at the Piano Cottage Rocks Concert 2017. She sang in her school’s chorus in 5th grade, she played Aquata in her school’s musical The Little Mermaid, and in 8th grade she played Shprintze in Fiddler on the Roof, where she learned a lot about musical theatre.
When she’s not singing or playing piano or cello, Meg loves reading, swimming, being outside, and hanging out with friends and family. If she were given the opportunity to pick any new skill to learn, she would probably pick acting -- but whatever she does, she knows she will always keep making music!
