Celebration of Music - Talent Search

My name is Josephina Butler, I'm twelve years old and I was born and raised in West Michigan. I love summers swimming at the beach! Basically, I just love being in or on the water. I enjoy drawing and writing. Mostly I spend my time singing and playing music. Art is where my heart is.

The first memory I have of singing is when I was five years old. My cousins and I just started singing twinkle twinkle little star and naturally started harmonizing. We then decided to perform in front of my family. Speaking of family, I have one older brother named Wyat that is thirteen years old and my cousins that I mentioned earlier, they're more like siblings. My cousin Kate is my age and is my best friend, I love her so much. My other cousin Sam, Kate's sister, is the same age as my older brother and she is so smart and caring. When we were all younger we dreamed of having a band called RH because we are all freckled faced redheads. My family is very close and they mean the world to me!

I grew up listening to my mom belting at the top of her lungs while rocking out on the guitar. I have identical twin aunts, my moms sisters, who have sung together since they were very young and they also grew up doing voice lessons, they remind me a lot of Kate and I. Kate and I started taking voice lessons in second grade. She also started playing guitar and I piano. Every year the place I take lessons at puts on a Concert, which is a big show that you have to audition for. Kate and I made it in all three years that we've had the opportunity to try. The experiences have made me realize I just feel at home on stage. I love it so much and hope to continue on in this industry. Just this year I have gone solo and I feel like I'm really finding who I want to be as an artist. This will be my first REALLY big opportunity. I'm very excited for this new challenge and I'm looking forward to learning and growing from this competition.
