Jaidyn Syversen

It was a sunny but windy afternoon at a go-to family playground when I stumbled upon a xylophone made of metal pipes, nuts, bolts, and screws. I cautiously reached out my chubby little 5 year old hands and methodically struck each bolt and screw against the metal pipes, one by one, up the musical scale. My ears perked up as the notes grew higher. A certain melody had been playing in my head throughout the day. Like a musician in love with his instrument, I began to play the melody. Without a single mistake or hesitation, I danced my way across the newly found device and used it to create the sweetest of sounds.

After years of infertility and recurrent miscarriages, my parents were finally expecting me after an IVF cycle on Christmas. I was born September 1st, 2005 in Manchester, NH via a scheduled c-section. My name is Jaidyn Noelle, I'm 12, live in Dunbarton, NH and am in 7th grade.

Very early on I was drawn to music, singing and dancing my way through my early years. At age 4 my parents enrolled me in piano lessons and it was there that I learned to enjoy the freedoms of sitting at a piano and losing myself in music. By age 6 I was composing my own music, many of which my parents recorded for me. It was a great experience for me to start so early on. Learning how to play chords, songs, and scales was exciting.

As I was progressing, my parents saw my first piano instructor wasn't keeping up with me, so they moved me to a music school in Concord. It was there that I really began to be comfortable playing in front of others – doing monthly recitals, while learning and playing much more complicated music. I also began to perform for the elderly at nursing homes and provided the music entertainment for parties.

At the beginning of my 7th grade year, I began singing and playing the piano at my church's youth group. That led into me leading the worship time there which also led to the lead music director of the whole church asking me to come on board with the music team for the big church. I have recently begun leading worship on Sunday morning's for our whole church of 350.

As a gift for my 12th birthday, my parents gifted me with recording time at a studio to record some of my original songs. In a follow-on recording session I had the opportunity to really get to know the owner and the instructors there and decided to make the switch to that music school in Manchester. The owner there has been a wealth of knowledge and a great source for getting me out in the community. I just sang the national anthem for the Jr. Monarchs and he is the one who told me about this competition. I look forward to all doors that open for me.
