Godiva Simonic

Godiva Simonic is thrilled to be a part of Celebration of Music, Tallahassee! Godiva is a 15-year-old native of Jacksonville, FL, and a vocal student at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. She began singing solos in church at the age of eight, and at age nine landed a starring role in a children’s movie entitled “Hug-a-Bug-a-Boo” with folksinger Mrs. Kate Carpenter. Godiva went on to complete several projects with Mrs. Kate including recording background vocals on the cd “Lightning Bug Lullabies,” recording the solo “Be a Friend” on the cd “I Think I Can,” and she worked as a roadie on several tours with Mrs. Kate across Florida. Godiva recently celebrated the release of the official music video for “Be a Friend,” which encourages kids to be kind to one another and put an end to bullying. In 2018 Godiva also cowrote and recorded “Radiate” with Christian hip hop artist TK, which was released in September. The song encourages young people to be brave, take a step of faith and work to make a difference in our world.

Godiva trained for three years with the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus under the direction of Mr. Darren Dailey, during which time she was honored to perform with Amy Grant, the Voca People and Kristin Chenoweth. She has also studied vocals and piano with Martha Trice Music, and vocals with the Nashville Vocal Coach Ms. Lorna Greenwood.

Godiva performs locally on her church’s worship team and for local charity events. She has carried her own shows at the Orange Park Mall, the Jax River Jam Sunset Cruise and has performed live on Channel 4s River City Live. One of her passions, however, is competing! For several years, Godiva has competed in pageantry at the state and national level winning several titles. In 2016 she won the National Preteen Talent Competition with Miss American Coed Pageants for singing “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera as well as 3rd runner up in the national acting competition. She has auditioned for America’s Got Talent, she was a Top Four Finalist in News4Jax’s 2018 competition “Oh Say Can You Sing” and she is one of thirteen singers chosen to compete on North Central Florida’s Southside Idol in January 2019. Godiva also won first place in the Sunshine Youth Talent Competition in September 2018.

In her spare time, Godiva loves relaxing at the beach, ice skating with friends, and caring for her nine leopard geckos. She is passionate about a variety of musical genres from Gospel to Rock to Latin pop and most relates to the styles of Lana del Ray and Adele. Godiva is thankful to God for the talent He’s given her and for the many doors singing has opened for her to meet new people and learn. She believes music is a gift to be shared with others and is honored to be chosen to compete in this season of Celebration of Music!
