Davis Mahoney

Davis Mahoney has always had a natural love for music. When he was only two years old, he would sing along while watching cartoons! At age five, he began singing with the Lodi Children’s Choir. The choir director soon discovered he had a voice, and by age eight, Davis was in private singing lessons learning Broadway Hits, Standards, and Gospel music.

Around age 11, Davis discovered musical theatre, where he starred as the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz, Shrek in Shrek, and other classic musicals. His musical education progressed into Opera and Classical training when at age 14 he began studying under Professor Daniel Ebbers of the University of the Pacific as a Base-Baritone.

Davis has performed in countless places through the years, including weddings, funerals, churches, private parties, cultural events, meetings, Christmas gatherings, local community events, and other venues. He has sung the National Anthem for baseball games, the Amgen Tour of California, and any other events the city needs him for.

Davis has also competed and won competitions such as the Modesto Valley Talent Project (where he won two scholarships, the Male Vocal Talent Award and the Paul Tischer Classical Music Scholarship), Apollo Night - Northern California’s Largest Amateur Talent Competition (where he took first place), and the Asya Pleschak Scholarship (where he placed first and earned the chance to sing The Vagabond with the Sacramento Master Singers).

Now, with this performance background, one might think that Davis would be continuing on in a career in performance. However, during his time in musical theatre, Davis had the opportunity to be the Musical Director for a selection of children’s musicals, where he discovered a passion for educating. He has applied for the University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA), and if accepted, plans to double major in Music Education and Music Performance. From there he plans to attend graduate school to earn his PhD in Opera.

Davis hopes that his music will touch the lives of those who listen, and take them away from their troubles and cares in the world, if only for a little while.
