Celebration of Music - Talent Search

Avery Jessie Watson is the 12 year old daughter of Greg and Sharon Watson. She has three siblings Ashleigh, Austin, & Aiden. She is in the 7th grade and an honor roll student.

Avery began taking dance at Elizabeth Williams School of Dance when she was three years old. She was asked to join the EWSD Dance Company at the age of five. She is currently a member of the Pre-Teen Dance Company. She is so thankful for the opportunity to dance with the EWSD Company and for the wonderful dance education she is receiving at EWSD.

With the EWSD Company Avery has had the opportunity to compete at local and travel Competitions and Conventions. She has been given the opportunity to travel to places like Orlando, New York City, Boston, Washington DC, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Avery has received scholarships to The Dance Awards Nationals, EPIC Showcase Convention Scholarship, NYCDA National Invitation, DMI National Scholarship and is enjoying a year long scholarship to the Tremaine Dance Convention. She competes with her group and with duos and solos during the competition season with which they have had many placements and overall awards. Avery’s 2016/2017 Duo is the current Nationals Overall High Score Champion for the Epic Dance Showcase.

Avery also has had the opportunity to perform for the past eight seasons with The Great Smoky Mountain Dance Theater's The Nutcracker Suite. She has enjoyed roles such as the Nutcracker Angel, Baby Angel, Baby Clown, Tumbling Clown, Gumdrop, Mice, Soldier, Gingerbread, Party Girl, Finale Waltz and Clara. She has also performed with the Moscow Ballet Nutcracker Suite for three seasons in the roles of Snow Maiden, Party Girl, Party Boy, and the Russian Variation.

Avery was honored to attend the Tremaine Summer Intensive 2017 in Los Angeles. She was also able to take classes at The Edge and The Millennium Dance Complex while in LA. She also attended classes while in New York City at The Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway. She is looking forward to going back to LA and New York to study dance.

Avery also take voice lessons with Mrs. Beth Giffin. She enjoys studying music and that extra knowledge helps her be a better dancer. When she is not dancing she also enjoys doing some amateur modeling for a photography group in our area.
