Celebration of Music - Talent Search

Hi, I’m Alison Buckman! I’m 18 years old, I am currently a student at Michigan State University, and I am a Creative Advertising major. Music has always been a passion of mine ever since I was young, but I only started performing when I was a freshman in high school! When I was around 11 years old I went to go see Sugar Land in concert because they were one of my favorite bands at the time. During the concert Kristian Bush announced that he would be giving away an autographed guitar, and out of all the people in the crowd he picked me! Before he gave the guitar to me, he made me promise that I would learn how to play it. That was a promise I was determined to keep. I then started to learn how to play the guitar, and started singing as well! I realized that singing and learning new instruments was an outlet, and a way to express myself and I loved it! Ever since my very first performance, which was my high school talent show my freshman year, I realized that music, and performing was something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life, no matter if it became my career, or just a hobby. I used to play travel soccer, and softball, along with a few other sports, for a good portion of my life but I decided to stop playing sports and devote a majority of my time to creating music. Not only do I just love music, I love all animals as well. I have one dog who is an English bulldog-boxer mix, and two cats whom I love very much. My family is also big on fostering animals and being a part of animal rescue groups. Even though it has been a while since my family has fostered any animal, it is something that I would love to do when I graduate from college. I also have a passion for drawing, and creating art, which is why I am majoring in creative advertising so I can apply my creative energy into my future work. This is a more recent passion that I have discovered but it is something that I really enjoy doing and I have always had a more creative mind. I have many things I enjoy doing but music is something I am heavily dedicated to, so being accepted to Celebration of Music is a great opportunity and I am so excited to be a part of it and see all the talent from other contestants on the show!
